Knotty Pine
Some friends bought a house that came with a barn. In the barn was a pile of knotty pine boards. I think these boards may have been cut from the property quite a while back (the family room in the house is all knotty pine and the new owners were told that the previous owner did the work on that room). The new owners had no need for the lumber and said either I could have it or they would burn it. There was no way I was going to let a pile (roughly 500 board feet) go up in smoke so I found a spot for (which was not easy). In exchange I told them I would make them something out of that wood. This jelly cupboard is the result. I’m not a big fan of knotty pine but the color in the wood is amazing. This is the same design as other jelly cupboards I’ve built, just taller.
